Tori Types Thoughts
Tori's very average blog
Chad Rinn is a Starbelly Dancer, teacher at Starbelly School of Dance, and a treasured friend to our community. He was recently injured and awaits knee surgery scheduled for next month followed by months of physical therapy. This type of injury for anyone is painful and can be very difficult to heal from; but for a career dancer such as Chad, it can be devastating.
Fundraiser Details
Both Workshops will be held at Starbelly School of Dance on April 6th from 12 – 4 pm. Suggested Donations: Cash and check donations will be accepted at the door before each workshop; please make checks out to Starbelly. (Your generous contribution to this fundraiser is not tax deductible, but it will benefit Chad Rinn’s recovery, while manifesting love, light and dance within our community.) Schedule: 12 – 2pm: Arab-Esque: Lyrical Fusion Abridged Workshop, taught by Tori King 2 – 2:30pm: Break 2:30 – 3:30pm: Getting Ready for The Floor: Strengthening for Floorwork, 3:30 – 4pm: Q & A Workshop Descriptions: Arab-Esque: Lyrical Fusion Abridged Workshop Designed for dancers at every skill level interested in Lyrical Fusion. Lyrical Fusion is based in Arabic Raqs Sharki and combines complimentary movements from the Ballet and Jazz vocabulary. During the first hour, Tori King will explain the basics of this style and introduce you to new movement concepts and combos, which you are welcome to add to your dance repertoire! In the second hour, we will use what we just learned to create choreography to a song by one of Chad's favorite bands! All moves used in this workshop are of low to medium impact. The suggested donation for this workshop is $40. Getting Ready for The Floor: Strengthening for Floorwork Floorwork is a fabulous and graceful component of Arabic Raq Sharki, but it is also deceptively challenging! For this one-hour workshop, Bayla Night will lead you through several strength and alignment training exercises that focus on stability and core training. If done regularly, these exercises will help to condition your body, so you can achieve fabulous and safe floorwork in the future. It is recommended to bring knee pads or a yoga/exercise mat (not provided by the studio or the instructors). The suggested donation for this workshop is $20. Comments are closed.
