Last Student Salon Nostalgia

Starbelly friend (and husband of a beautiful Starbelly Student), Kevin Schilling, took some photos of the last time the Starbelly fam got to party together. I knew these photos would be meaningful, but in the light of current events, they are treasures. The full post of everyone can be found here but here are some of my favorites of my two solos (both the pangia songs by weird coincidence) and doing some tribal style with the amazing students to the left. I miss this.

EVERYONE-

I can't tell you how many think tanks I've been a part of around best practices around video conferencing/teaching/communication due to COVID-19. I've become intimately familiar with Google Hangouts, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Facebook Live (and even revisited that old legacy, Skype). I have tested Bluetooth mics, headsets, lapel mics (which are also Bluetooth mics, but let me be dramatic), podcasting gear, lenses, webcams, light arrays, speakers, a mini soundboard, and several different types of screens and how they all interact. I've downloaded a bazillion apps. Let me tell you the lesson I've learned.

The audio and visual quality of video calls and classes just sucks. Period.

Well, unless you're rich OR and/or have access to professional AV equipment and a team of people who know what buttons to push and when to push them. :-)

I asked all of the Starbelly Dancers for their advice in this time of need. Push the pause button while you're deciphering this [horrible] trendy font that I picked cuz people love it.

This will be my only complaint this post - I thank my lucky stars every day that I have wellness, resources and a loving, supportive community around me. I don't know what I did to deserve my fortunate life. I cannot ask for more and I am grateful to be where I am at, and to be with you!

WOW AN EVENT - Humpday Nooners!

I had fun designing this concept haha - the name was chosen by Cecilia because we decided to teach sliding scale, mini-classes at noon on Wednesdays! Cecilia, Bayla, Cassandra and I are taking turns teaching a little something we love for all levels. I'll post a mini breakdown here, but if you're interested, click on one or all of the buttons below. Seriously they are made to be clicked!
